AT Marker
Classic AT marker and white blazes

Thank you for visiting my web site. I created this site primarily
to blog about my experiences on the Appalachian Trail (AT). Of course I thought some background information such as who I am, how I got to this point and how I hope to complete the journey is appropriate and valuable.

I will be attempting a northbound hike, meaning I will be starting in Georgia and hiking to Maine. If all goes according to plan, I commence my hike on March 17, 2016 from Amicalola Falls State Park. I hope to finish sometime around Labor Day.

I’ve made the decision to hike the approach trail to Springer Mountain, the southern terminus of the AT, so it could be argued, I’ll actually begin my time on the AT a day later. It’s a bit cruel that to get to the start of the AT in Georgia you have to hike almost 9 miles uphill. Similarly, when you finish in Maine, you have to hike back down from the summit of Mount Katahdin! It builds (even more) character I guess!

I could continue writing about the AT, but that would be redundant and potentially boring. If you are interested in learning more, there are many, many web sites dedicated to the Appalachian Trail in particular and hiking in general. Too many to enumerate here. Need some opinions on equipment, not a problem. Need someone to review your specific gear selection, piece of cake. Want different perspectives on hiking strategies, food consumption, or what towns to visit along the way? Rest easy, it’s all out there. If you want more information, pick a topic, hit the search button and carve out a few hours of your time!
